The brief was to design a 12-inch vinyl sleeve that visually interprets a range of soundscapes through colour, material, and process. The project explores how personal responses to sound can be expressed graphically, with a focus on translating the intangible qualities of music into a tactile, visual form.
The design takes the form of a nature inspired journey utilising layering and perspective to reflect a path from inner turmoil to peace and reconnection the self.
Each layer used specific Colorplan shades to tie the visuals back to the sonic palette the tracks were built on, with the process of opening a vinyl adding to the element of narrative.
In addition to the front, back and inner design of the record sleeve, the identity was extended to four 7” x 8” insert posters to represent each of the four tracks and the colours they were inspired by, from the B-Side of the vinyl.
